Industrial & Commercial
Kingfisher Consulting provides elegant, innovative and cost effective structural engineering solutions for all types of industrial and commercial structures. Our projects include multi-storey steel framed commercial buildings, oil and gas facilities, warehousing and manufacturing facilities together with a range of specialist structures in all building materials. We are members of TRADA, and undertake many projects involving the structural use of timber.
Of particular note was the recent conversion of a technical college into an award winning head office for Harrison Spinks in Leeds. This project involved a complete internal transformation together with a new architectural façade and new infrastructure.
Kingfisher is also experienced in the amendment to existing factories to facilitate new industrial processes. This has included increasing the height of steel framed and masonry structures and acting as Principal Designer under CDM 2105.

Heritage & Religious
For many years we have undertaken projects for the National Trust including tunnels, lime kilns and bridges on the Calke Abbey Estate, together with remediation of historic houses at Keddleston Hall, Clumber Park, Wightwick Manor and Hardwick Hall.
Working alongside architects and National Trust surveyors, we have built a reputation for innovative structural solutions which assist in preserving our national heritage.
Other work carried out by Kingfisher Consulting includes church and mosque extensions and rehabilitation projects, together with sympathetic restoration of farmhouses, barns and industrial buildings in National Parks and conservation areas.
We were responsible for the design of the Cae Du Caravan Park facilities and administration building in Beddgelert in the Snowdonia National Park which is now recognised as an outstanding example of how to empathise with the local vernacular architecture and surroundings in an area of outstanding natural beauty.
Our ecclesiastical work has included a large extension to St Matthews church in Hayfield, High Peak, the location of the recent BBC drama “The Village”, and an important conservation area partly within the Peak District National Park.
Leisure & Education
Kingfisher Consulting has undertaken a variety of projects in the leisure and education sectors, including:
Altrincham Grammar School Sixth Form Centre
The centre comprises a two storey steel framed masonry building connecting to the existing school. Kingfisher was involved from project inception through to detailed design and construction supervision.
Bradwell School
A major extension to the school including commercial kitchen and classroom, together with external sports facility. Kingfisher was responsible for architectural and engineering design and supervision of construction.
Saint Thomas School, Bolton
A two storey extension including a gymnasium and classroom facilities.
Broughton Cassell Fox Primary School
This innovative extension involved building a first floor over the existing single storey building to provide a gymnasium and other facilites. The long span inverted roof was achieved using glulam timber beams.
Cae Du Camping and Caravan Park
Design of a new reception block and new site infrastructure for a caravan park in the Snowdonia National Park.
